These premium flat wound strings are the result of a dedicated collaboration between Italian string artisans Dogal and legendary bassist Jonas Hellborg. Crafted over three years of meticulous R&D, Hellborg Bass Strings bring a revolutionary approach to bass tone, balance, pitch and responsiveness. Low tension and flexibility – these strings also feature a multi-wire braided core, a break through in electric bass string technology.
Jonas Hellborg, renowned for his ground breaking work with music icons like John McLaughlin, Shawn Lane, and Ginger Baker, has a deep-rooted passion for redefining musical equipment. With Dogal Hellborg strings, he tackles a fundamental issue: standard electric bass strings have traditionally been upscaled versions of guitar strings, which can limit flexibility, tone, and intonation on bass guitars. Drawing on Dogal’s long-standing expertise in classical instrument strings, Hellborg worked closely with the team to create a set of bass strings uniquely suited to the instrument’s specific needs.
